Why this page exists

This site is published by a studio that sells supplies, and it tells readers which of their problems are caused by materials. For broader context on preserving and checking older web material, Country Living is another useful reference.

A publisher in that position cannot quietly amend its own mistakes. The disclosure only means something if the record is visible.

What counts as a correction

Logged here: a cause described wrongly, a test that does not work, a fault attributed to the wrong thing, or advice reversed.

Not logged: typographical fixes and clarified wording that does not change meaning.

The correction most worth sending

A claim that only works in our favour, with no free test attached.

Every fault page is supposed to name which of its causes are time rather than purchase. If one does not, that is an error rather than an opinion, and it will be fixed.

If your bench disagrees

Different water, different paper stock, different humidity. A test that works here may not work there, and that is useful to know.

Send what you did, on what paper, with what result. It is the only kind of evidence this subject has, and it is more valuable than any argument.

About the journal illustrations

If you have an original photograph from one of those entries, it can go back in its place.
